Serving God. Serving People. Guided by Divine Providence.
The Congregation of Saint Michael the Archangel, known as the Michaelite Fathers, is a Roman Catholic religious community founded by Blessed Fr. Bronisław Markiewicz in Poland at the turn of the 20th century. Inspired by deep faith, social concern, and the spirituality of St. John Bosco, Fr. Markiewicz dedicated his life to the spiritual and moral formation of youth and the poor—always trusting in God’s providence and the powerful intercession of St. Michael the Archangel.
Our Mission in Canada
Since our arrival in Canada in the mid-20th century, the Michaelite Fathers have served the Church with dedication and joy. Our primary ministries include:
Parish ministry
in the Diocese of London, Toronto, Detroit and and other communities where the Church calls us. Our presence is marked by faithful celebration of the Sacraments, preaching that forms both mind and heart, pastoral care to all ages and walks of life, special attention to the youth, the lonely, and the marginalized Our aim is to create welcoming and prayerful communities where Christ can be encountered in Word, Sacrament, and fraternity.
Retreat and spiritual renewal
A vital part of our mission is carried out through the Michaelite Fathers Retreat Centre in Melrose, which offers a space for spiritual renewal, prayer, and reflection. Here we welcome parish groups, lay associations, schools, and religious communities for retreats that nourish the soul and build up the Body of Christ. In a spirit of simplicity and hospitality, we provide an environment where guests can encounter God more deeply.
Support for Youth, Families, and Vocations
We are also committed to the formation and support of young people and families. Inspired by the Salesian example of St. John Bosco, which deeply shaped our founder, we organize retreats, events, and outreach programs that help youth discover their identity in Christ and respond to God’s call in their lives. We accompany those discerning vocations to the priesthood and religious life, offering guidance and prayerful support.
Saint Michael the Archangel
A distinctive part of our mission is the propagation of devotion to Saint Michael the Archangel. Through liturgical celebrations, the distribution of devotional materials, and public acts of prayer and consecration, we invite the faithful to seek the intercession of Saint Michael—protector of the Church, defender in spiritual battle, and guide in the journey toward holiness.
